Abstract | Newly formed malignant cells must escape immunosurveillance to generate progressing neoplastic lesions of clinical relevance. Recent data indicate that the immunogenicity of nascent cancer cells, at least in some settings, is dictated by inherent epigenetic mechanisms rather than by immunoediting and the consequent Darwinian selection of poorly immunogenic phenotypes. |
